i am so incredibly, fantastically and enthusiastically excited to announce that this September (post-Labour day) i will be packing up the car, with the dogs in tow, and heading East for a working holiday adventure. this is something that i have wanted to do for years and was close to planning it in 2010 but…
Keira - If you make it down to DC you must stop in Baltimore, we have a lot to offer besides The Wire and Homicide! Check out BARCS if you stop, they are doing a lot for pit bulls
tara - marcia, you’re going to LOVE the east coast! i look forward to getting back there myself one day. just wanted to mention the scenic highway routes / drives, because they are so great. If you are able, one example would be to take Fundy Coastal Drive from Moncton to Saint John instead of the major highway. It’s worth it!
Debbie Russell - YAY!!! How long will you be in NYC? Will you have time for dinner or something while you’re here? It’s been too long since I’ve seen you.
Let me get my head together around places in CT and NY for you.
Woohoo!!
Grace - I can’t believe you won’t be stopping in PEI! You cannot go all the way down East and not! Perhaps I’m biased because I grew up there, but I go back often and trust me, it’s a MUST-SEE! I am actually going to be there in the first 2 weeks of September (also my favourite month, and the summer months (July-August) are faaar too “touristy”). If you decide to pop over, I am happy to give some suggestions! We drive down through the US (NY, Vermont, NH and Maine) and it’s a much, much better trip than through Canada (snore). Have a blast!
Carol Haynes - You are going to have such a great time! It really is such a beautiful part of the country. A lot of my family is in Halifax so I know the route you are taking quite well. Depending on how long you are in Nova Scotia, check out some of the small maritime towns along the way, they will definately inspire you. If you get a chance, go to Luneburg (where the Bluenose was built). I could go on. Have an awesome trip!
